The European Shorthair – an extraordinary cat breed
History and Breeding of European Shorthair (EHK)
This cat breed, also known as Celtic Shorthair or European, is descended from the African Falbkatze. It was distributed in Europe by the Romans about 2000 years ago. Her close relatives include the British Shorthair and American Shorthair. In 1982, the FIFE (Federation Internationale Feline) gave it its own standard and thus its own breed. The EHK is often equated with the domestic cat, but this is wrong. To the ordinary domestic cat it distinguishes a pedigree and breed standards.
Appearance and anatomy of the velvet paw
In the EHK, with the dense hair dress, all colors are allowed. In the case of fur colours black, cream, white and red, the eye colours are blue, amber or green. The different bales under the paw and the lower edge of the nose are pink. In cats with two colours, these are separated by spots. The colour white may not exceed 50 of the total cat fur. The fur drawings are found in tabby or smoke (bright, striped face).
The anatomy of the ECH
The European is characterized by a muscular and strong physique, comparable to that of the domestic cat. The head with the slightly rounded forehead, has oval-running ears. It is not uncommon for the inner ear to decorate so-called hair brushes. The face is round with a straight nose and light, oblique eyes. Like other cats, she has a predator bite. The legs are muscular and stocky.
The weight
The weight is between five and seven kilograms for a hangover, and between four and six kilograms for a female.
Characteristics
The European Shorthair has loving and cuddly character traits. She is family-related and fond of children. The gentle four-legged friend is very playful and loves cat toys,where his intelligence is also required. If it is kept exclusively as a housing cat, it requires a lot of employment and variety.
